Donald Paulsen
(June 10, 1934 - January 4, 2005)

Donald Paulsen, 70, Charlotte, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, January 4, 2005 at home.

Don was born Sunday, June 10, 1934 in Miles, Iowa, to Bahne and Maria Paulsen. He married Judith Ann Horst, June 22, 1969 in Miles. Don did carpenter work earlier in his life. He also farmed all of his life and was assisted by his wife Judy following their marriage. He attended of First Baptist Church, DeWitt. Don was a member of the Gideon’s and Clinton County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, family time and cards.

Surviving are his loving wife of 35 years, Judy; their children, Deborah Tulley and her husband, Brian, Alden, Iowa; Angela Owen and her husband, Ryan, Baldwin, Iowa; Dr. Catherine Bowles and her husband, Joshua, Salt Lake City, Utah; Nancy Paulsen and fiancé, Chris Foxen, Maquoketa; three granddaughters, Elizabeth, Anne and Sarah Tulley; three sisters, Malinda Malmanger, Grand Mound, Iowa; Ida Detrick, Des Moines, Iowa; Joan (Scott) Johnston, Richmond, Virginia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arlene (Cecil) Simons, Bellevue, Iowa, Harold (Louise) Horst, Miles, Iowa, Patricia Horst, Miles, Iowa and Chieko Paulsen, Chula Vista, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jens, and brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Kenneth “Knute” Malmanger, Jack Detrick, Robert Horst, Evelyn and Walter Jensen.

Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3 until 7 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2005. Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Huff officiating. Interment at Rossiter Cemetery, Charlotte.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Lawrence, Ken DeMoss, Joel Carstensen, Bill Spain, LeRoy Lamp and Bill Lamp, Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be David Gluesing, Bill Hamilton and Ken Gerdes.
