Dwayne Spooner, 71, of Fulton, IL passed away Friday, October 21, 2005 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. There will be no visitation and cremation rites have been accorded. A private Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2005 with the Rev. Sue Eades of Grace Episcopal Church officiating. Lemke Funeral Homes - North Chapel, 2304 North Second Street, is handling the funeral arrangements.

Dwayne Murlin Spooner was born May 28, 1934 to Harry and Helen (Buckley) Spooner in Clinton, IA. Dwayne graduated from Lyons High School in 1953. He graduated from the Cedar Rapids Barber School. Dwayne married Janice Hill June 12, 1955 at 1st United Methodist Church in Clinton. Dwayne owned and operated The Squires Barber Shop in Clinton for 26 years before retiring in 1981. He was voted Who’s Who Barbering in America in 1973. He was a member of the Lyons Masonic Lodge #93 serving as Past Master, District Lecture and a Masonic Instructor, was a member and past President of the Old 411 Auxiliary Fire Fighters and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. Dwayne also wrote and published Football North of the Big Tree in 2000.

Dwayne is survived by his wife, Janice of Fulton, 3 daughters, Traci Bray of Kansas City, MO, Robin (Al) Ostedgaard of Iowa City, IA and Kerri (William) Dufour of Mt. Carroll, IL, 3 grandchildren Lainey and Hallie Ostedgaard and Joseph Dufour, a brother, Ross (Lynda) Spooner of Clinton, a sister, Gayla Rixen of Clinton, a sister-in-law Marion Spooner of Clinton, sisters Kay (Louis) Weinbeck of Thomson, IL and Marcia (Donald) Lass of Clinton, a bother, David (Michelle) Spooner of Clinton and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friends Bob Holm, Mike Thomsen and David Stumbaugh.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Arthur Spooner and a sister, Jacqueline Schaffer.
