Melvin "Pat" P. Albrecht, 74, of Camanche passed away Monday, July 22, 2019 at OSF St. Frances Medical Center - Peoria, Illinois.
A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 12:00 pm (Noon) at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home.
Melvin Paul Albrecht was born June 21, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Melvin Henry and Irma (Hinde) Albrecht. He was a 1962 graduate of Senior High School in Dubuque. He married Therese Kluesner on March 23, 1968 in Dubuque, Iowa. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves for 6 years and worked for ChemPlex modern day Lyondell Basell Industries for 36 years; retiring in January 2004.
Pat had a heart for volunteering, he enjoyed being on committees and boards, he never said no when an opportunity arose to serve his community. He served on the Camanche planning and zoning commission, he was involved with the Camanche volunteer Police Auxiliary, he was the past president of the Chemical Credit Union now Dutrac Credit Union; member of the Citizen Advisory Panel for Lyondell and past president of the Camanche High School Athletic Boosters. Since he had the universal blood type he was a prominent blood donor with the Red Cross. He loved his family and especially loved being grandpa and time spent fishing.
Pat is survived by his wife Tess Albrecht of Camanche; three children: Andrea (Douglas) Dimmer of Port Washington, Wisconsin, Chris (Katie) Albrecht of Kelley, Iowa and Stephanie (Michael Mangano) Albrecht of Denver, Colorado; 8 grandchildren: Dominic, Olivia, Sophia, Grace, Jude, Ruby, Augustine and Armella; and two siblings: Mary (Jim) Rummery of Muscatine, Iowa and Louis (Becky) Albrecht of Morrison, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family wishes memorial be directed to Mercy Radiation Oncology Center in Clinton or OSF St. Frances Medical Center in Peoria.
