August Raasch, son of Mrs. Mary Raasch of 426 DeWitt street, passed away at 9:45 o'clock this morning following a short illness of plural pneumonia.
He was born in this city on April 23, 1887, and had been employed as blacksmith in the Northwestern shops. All his relatives were called here by his illness, and were at his bedside when death occurred.
To mourn him are left his mother, three brother, John, with the expeditionary forces in France; and Herman and Albert of this city, also eight sisters, Mrs. Sophie Kiare of Chicago, Mrs. W. F. Kennedy of Minneapolis, Mrs. P. D. Estes of Chicago, Mrs. Russell Record at Marshalltown, Miss Elsie of Chicago and Misses Florence, Evelyn and Berniece at home. His father died 12 years ago.
Mr. Raasch was a young man of sterling character and exemplary habits and his death is mourned by many friends.
The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
