Funeral services for John Beuthien, 89, Wheatland, were held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ Jan. 9. The Rev. Paul Jordan of Lowden officiated. Burial was in the Dixon cemetery.
Mr. Beuthien died at Colonial Manor Nursing home, Wheatland Jan. 5. He was a shoe repairman in Dixon for 25 years before his retirement.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., May 8, 1884, the son of Matthaus Beuthien and Francesca Bodas Beuthien.
He married Laura Riedesel in 1908 in Tipton. She died in 1970.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Erwin Proesch, Bennett and Mrs. Norman Schneider, Wheatland; a son, Edgar, Wheatland; a brother, Edward, Wheatland; 9 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters.
