Robert George Grossman, 83, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at his home. Services will be held at 10:30AM Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM to 7:00PM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery, Clinton. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting snellzornig.com.
Robert was born January 7, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Harold and Nellie (Dixon) Grossman. He attended Iowa State University for two years. Robert married Elizabeth “Betty” Kennedy May 21, 1960 in Clinton, Iowa; Betty died December 10, 2013.
Bob was employed as a journeyman electrician for many years prior to retiring, he also farmed his entire life.
He enjoyed meeting his friends for morning coffee and noon break. He met his high school classmates for lunch once a month as well as meeting up with many of his co-workers on a regular basis. Everyone Bob met was his friend. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. He was a member of the Low Moor Lions Club and the Fulton Country Club. Bob had many pastimes, including playing pool at the AMVETS, golfing, camping, fishing and gardening while still spending time on the family Century farm.
Survivors include his daughters, Kristine (Gene) Banowetz of Charlotte, IA and Annette (Duane) Schmidt of Elvira, IA; Sons, Dan (Paige) Grossman of Cedar Rapids, IA and James (Melissa) Grossman of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Sarah (Kevin) Hart, Jace (Allison) Ugarph, Nicole (Dan) Levin, Kara (Erik) Lutes, Jacquelyn (Alex Worrell) Hinde and Joshua Schmidt; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon Gilbert of Clinton, IA and Sisters-in-law, Shirley Kennedy of Clinton, IA and Janice Gluesing of Low Moor, IA.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Rodney Gluesing, Larry Kennedy and Mike Gilbert.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hills and Dales or the Low Moor Lions Club.
