Roberta L. Immel, 69, of Charlotte, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, June 27, 2022, at her home.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Roberta's body has been donated to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, Deeded Body Program. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Roberta Leah Hulsman was born on May 18, 1953, in Clinton, Iowa, to Richard and Ivah (Wells) Hulsman. She was a 1971 graduate of Clinton High School, and also attended Clinton Community College in the nursing program in 1973. She married Joseph Immel on July 7, 1973 in Goose Lake, Iowa. One son was born to this union, Justus.

Birdie worked at The Fireplace Shop in the sales department and for oral surgeon, Dr. Richard Kist.

She loved showing her beloved quarter horses and had won many awards throughout the years. She also took much pride in creating and sewing her show clothes.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Joe Immel of Charlotte, IA; a son, Justus (Melisa) Immel of Clinton, IA; a sister, Pat (Len) Henning of Kingsburg, CA; and 3 grandchildren.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Hospice of Jackson County.
