Doris was born March 16, 1944 in Freeport, the daughter of Jacob and Edna (Rademaker) Miller. She grew up on the family farm near Lanark and when she was sixteen the family moved to Shannon where she attended high school with the Class of 1961. On June 24, 1961, Doris married Gerald Bork. They enjoyed living life together. When Gerald led the Carroll County Democrats, Doris served as his treasurer for 14 years. They celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Doris loved being a Grandma most of all. She could whip up an award winning pie or batch of cookies at a moments notice. She actually loved many things, along with many people…….from the love of her life, Gerald, her 5 daughters, 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, her Church family, people she met through work, flowers, shopping at thrift stores, being funny, honesty, cooking, a clean house, the Hallmark Channel, hard-work, chocolate, bowling, and Christmas…..these are all things she loved dearly.

Doris worked as a bookkeeper for Colehour Elevators for 17 years, Shaws Grocery for 7 years, and earlier, the Mt. Carroll Bank and Woods Manufacturing. She was a people-person and enjoyed helping others.

Doris will be dearly missed by her husband, Gerald Bork of Mt. Carroll; her daughters, Bonnie (Brian) Miller of Mt. Carroll, Brenda (Anthony) Scudder of Freeport, Barbara Eyerly of Las Vegas, NV, Beverly Bork Giorgi of Rockford, and Jerylen (John) Meyer of Carol Stream, IL; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many close friends. She is preceded in death by her sister, Elaine Remmers, and both parents.
