Marlys Buckneberg, 94 of Clinton, passed away, Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Centerville Care and Rehab, Centerville, South Dakota.

Funeral Services will be 6:30pm, Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Fulton Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to the service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Marlys Swanson was born on April 26, 1928 in Beresford, South Dakota, the daughter of Elving and Gladys (Peterson) Swanson. Attended Brooklyn Country School, Beresford and Centerville SD High School. She also graduated from Sioux Falls Teachers College. She married Vandahl Buckneburg on June 2, 1948 in Beresford, South Dakota; he died February 11, 2007.

Marlys was employed with PMM in Overland Park, KS, a country school teacher and the state Hospital in Clarinda IA. She also worked at the Clinton County Treasures office.

Marlys enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking. She loved spending time with her family the most.

Marlys is survived by son-in-law Steve Lyle of Sarasota Florida, 4 grandkids: Molly (Bernie) Zajicek, Clinton, Iowa, Matt (Kristen) Newberg of Yulee Florida, Beth (Miah) Duran of Kansas City, Missouri, Brad Lyle of Sarasota Florida; 4 great-grandkids: Heidi, Katelyn, Carrie Zajicek and Larson Newberg. 4 great great-grandkids; her sisters: Glenda Wiese, Mary Newcomb, Corinne(Merle) Larson and sister in law Dolly Snitselaar.

Preceded by parents, brother Dennis, husband Van, Daughters Vickie and Gloria, and son in law John Newberg.
