George P. Dryden, 71, of Camanche passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus, Davenport surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Fulton Calvary Cemetery – Fulton, IL, with military honors being conducted by the United States Army. Serving as pallbearers will be Cole Howard, Ryan Cooper, Cody Cooper, Justin Holle, Bryan Schulz, and Lewis Todtz. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.

George Peterson Dryden was born on April 21, 1951 in Burlington, Iowa the son of George Lowell and Ellen (Peterson) Dryden. He graduated from Sabula High School in 1969 and later from Clinton Community College. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era from 1971-1973 in the 509th Engineer Battalion in Germany.

George worked at Lord Baltimore Press as a die maker before and after being drafted in the Army. He later worked at Chemplex, now LyondellBasell, for 42 ½ years retiring in 2017. While at LyondellBasell he served on the EMT, rescue crew, and fire brigade.

George loved fishing and spending time at Loon Point Resort on Wasson Lake in Big Fork, Minnesota. He also enjoyed playing cards and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

George married Penny Holle on October 31, 1970 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church – Clinton. In addition to his wife of 51 years he is survived by their daughters: Amy Howard of Geneseo, Illinois, Mindy Dryden of Iowa City, Iowa; four grandchildren: Cole & Piper Howard, and Skylar & Ruby Schulz; his two sisters: Mary Highstrom of Savanna, Illinois, and Linda (Steve) Cunningham of Des Moines, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
