January 21, 1918 - The Clinton Advertiser

Mrs. Nielsine Mortensen Larson, wife of Rasmus Larson of 543 Sixteenth avenue, passed away at 5:05 Sunday evening, after a short illness. Mrs. Larson was taken ill last Monday, suffering from an attack of la Grippe, which devolved into pleuro pneumonia. She was removed to Agatha hospital, where her death occurred.

The deceased was born September 20, 1856, at Odense, Denmark. She was married to Mr. Larson on April 15, 1882, the couple coming to this country in the spring of 1883. They came direct to Clinton where the deceased had since made her home.

There were born to Mr. and Mrs. Larson one son who died in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. S. L. Machael, who survives. There are left to mourn her loss her husband, a granddaughter and three grand sons, a sister, Mrs. Sophia Johansen, of Blair, Neb., and a brother, Nels Mortensen of Odense, Denmark. Mrs. Larson was a devoted wife and mother, beloved by all who knew her, and one who was ever ready to lend a helping hand to others. She will be greatly missed, not only by her family, but by her many friends in lodge circles, she having been a member of the Royal Neighbors, and an efficient worker in the Rebekahs.

The funeral will be held from the family home at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Rev. M. J. Locke of the First Methodist Episcopal church officiating. Silver Moon Rebekahs lodge will have its services at the home.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Rasmus Larson were held at the family home, 543 Sixteenth avenue at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon, Rev. M. J. Locke, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church and Rev. G. R. Cady pastor of the First Congregational church officiating. The Rebekahs, with which order the deceased was identified, also held their service at the home. The pall bearers were Geo. G. Deyo, Charles D. Hill, T. M. Corson, S. I. Wilson, G. A. Montgomery and Nels S. Johansen. Interment was in Springdale cemetery.

Miss Edna Morrison of Davenport was here to attend the funeral.
