18 January 1918 - The Clinton Advertiser

William Clay of 305 Second avenue, an old resident of Clinton, died at Agatha hospital at 4:30 o'clock this morning, after an illness of several months. The deceased was taken to the hospital about a week ago.

Mr. Clay was born in England about 80 years ago and came to America when a boy. He worked at the trade of a machinist here for many years.

Surviving him are his wife and two nephews, William and Steve Tonny, of Clinton. He also leaves a sister, who lives in Patterscon, N.J.

Funeral services for the late William Clay will be held Sunday afternoon at the family home, 305 Second avenue, with interment in Springdale cemetery.

21 January 1918 - The Clinton Advertiser

The funeral of the late William Clay of 305 Second avenue, was held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Estabrooks chapel on Second street. Rev. G. D. Rogers, pastor of the First Baptist church, had charge of the service, and interment was in Springdale cemetery. A delegation from Gen. N. B. Baker post acted as pall bearers.
