James T. Wood, age 79, of Fulton, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at his home.

Jim was born June 28, 1942 in Moline, IL the son of Edward and Agatha (Schell) Wood. He graduated from Alleman high school in 1960. He was drafted by the U.S. Army and spent a tour in Vietnam between 1964 and 1966. He retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local Union 150 in 2002 with 36 years of active service.

Jim married Nora, "the love of his life," on April 8, 1976. He was a hard-working family man who always provided for and was there for his family. He became quite the wood worker and enjoyed "milling around at the barn." He most loved spending time with his family: family gatherings, attending the grandchildren's events, fishing, watching sports, working on classic Mustangs, and game nights. He told great stories that always included a funny joke or twist. The grandchildren will always cherish their nature walks with him when they would "sneak" up on deer and turkeys and make up stories along the way.

Survivors include two daughters, Dana (William) Barnett-Owens of Evanston, IL, and Bridget (Kevin) McRae-Kurtz of Clinton, IA; three sons, Christopher (Andrea) Barnett, Patrick Wood, and James Wood all of Fulton; five sisters, Barbara Schell of San Diego, CA, Judy Hansen of Coal Valley, IL, Mary Bayless of Bellevue, IA, Theresa Paulsen of Dewitt, IA, and Patricia (Michael) Sheil of DeWitt, IA; ten grandchildren, Katie (Adam) Hoagland of Morrison, IL, Alyssa (Joseph) Fisher of Pecatonica, IL, Brianna (Doug) Chidester of Eagle, MI, Larson and Connor Barnett of Fulton, IL, Alexander and Abigail Owens of Evanston, IL, Anna and Brady Kurtz of Clinton, IA, and Natalie Wood of Clinton, IA; and two great grandchildren, Colton Hoagland of Morrison, IL, and Kennedy Fisher of Pecatonica, IL.

Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nora; his parents; and siblings Katie, Joseph, and Edward.

Visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00pm on Monday, February 21, 2022 at McDonald Funeral Home in Fulton. Funeral service will follow at 6:00pm. Cremation rites will follow.
