Gene A. Suthers, 65, of Lost Nation, Iowa, passed away on Friday morning, January 14, 2022, at The Ivy at Davenport in Davenport, Iowa.

A graveside service and burial celebrating Gene’s life will be held at 2 P.M., Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Gene Arthur Suthers was born on March 15, 1956 in Cllinton, Iowa, to Lyle F. and Ruby D. (Donaldson) Suthers. He was a graduate of Maquoketa High School. He married Jillian L. Keller on July 27, 1979 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He had worked various jobs throughout the years, including as a mechanic and attendant at Bickford’s Gas Station in Maquoketa, and at the Tri-Stop in Lost Nation, electrician for McCutcheon’s, butcher for Neiber’s in Lost Nation, and lastly as a maintenance person for WADY’S in Maquoketa. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Those left to honor his memory include a son, Robert Suthers of Lost Nation, IA; a daughter; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; and brothers, John (Nancy) Suthers of Delmar, IA, and Paul (Michelle) Suthers of Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Jillian on February 24, 2017
