Dylan Kaczinski, 27, formerly of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Thursday, November 11, 2021, in Eldridge, Iowa, as the result of an accident.

Dylan was born May 4, 1994, in Davenport, Iowa, to Daniel J. Kaczinski and Shelley A. Wells. He grew up in Grand Mound with his three siblings. Dylan was a member of FFA and graduated from Central Community Schools in DeWitt in 2012. He was employed at KE Flatwork as a heavy equipment operator for the last five years. Dylan became a father in 2016 when his son, Emmett, was born. He was thrilled to share a home with the love of his life, Liz Strohbehn, and her children, Zoa and Zachary.

Dylan was a friend and brother to everyone he knew; his positive personality was contagious to everyone he met. He was a smart, confident, generous person who would give the shirt, or bibs, off his back to anyone in need. Dylan was an amazing father who created a life for Emmett full of love and adventures. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, kayaking and hanging out with friends. Dylan was a big fan of live music with every experience including him singing and dancing along. He could often be found working on projects of his own and others’, and fixing things he had broken. The loss of Dylan leaves a gigantic hole in the hearts of everyone who loved him. He truly brought life to the party.

Surviving are his son, Emmett; his girlfriend, Liz, and her children, Zoa and Zachary; mother and stepfather, Shelley and Stephen McGarry; two brothers, Garrett Kaczinski, Joe (Samantha) Kaczinski and their son, Coleman; sister, Rachel (Steven Poppe) Kaczinski; two stepbrothers, Jason McGarry and Andy McGarry, stepsister Melinda (Steve) Grau; stepmom, Kim Kaczinski and her sons, Eric and Rodney; maternal grandmother, Darlene Wells; paternal grandmother, Mavis Kaczinski; and many other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel.

Visitation will be from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2021, at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound. A Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 20, 2021, in the funeral home.
