Eugene G. Othon, Jr., 80, of Clinton passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at his home.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery on Friday. Eugene Gamboa Othon, Jr. was born February 28, 1941 in Tempe, Arizona, the son of Eugene and Susana (Gamboa) Othon, Sr. He served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam. He worked as a sound engineer in the motion picture industry in California until retirement in 2006 when he moved to Clinton, Iowa.
Gene married Krista Krenz on November 12, 2003 in Selma, California. Together they were blessed with four daughters in addition to Gene's older children. They enjoyed traveling and seeing many places in the world. He was a devoted member of the Clinton AMVETS and dedicated time on the board of directors for the Children's Discovery Center.
He is survived by his wife Krista Othon of Clinton; six children: Dorina Vought of Folsom, California, Greg (Annette) Othon of San Jose, California, Isabella Susan Othon of Clinton, Iowa, Lillia Ruth (Jonathan) Moses of Florence, South Carolina, Olivia Theresa Othon of Clinton and Angel Star Othon of Clinton; five grandchildren: Jon Gregory Vought, Andrew James Vought, Alexa Lina Othon, Annika Grace Othon and Mason Alexander Moses; siblings: Rafael (Mary) Othon of New York, Ruth Ginder of Florida, Rachael Oltrogge of Pennsylvania and Ruben (Mary Jane) Othon of Florida; special friend: Janice Hines of Clinton, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law: Robert "Uncle Bob" Ginder and Tim Oltrogge.
Memorials may be made to the Clinton AMVETS or the Clinton Humane Society.
