Services for Miss Vernagene Petersen, 31, of near Big Rock, were Sept. 30 in Durant. Burial was in the New Liberty Cemetery.

Miss Petersen died Sept. 27 in Mercy hospital, Davenport.

She was born July 30, 1936, in Wheatland. She was educated in Scott and Clinton County schools and was employed at Martha's Cafe in DeWitt.

Miss Petersen is survived by her father, Arthur Petersen, Big Rock; 2 sisters, Martha and Arlene, both of DeWitt, and a brother, Arthur Petersen Jr., at home.
