Charles F. Goddard, 72, of DeWitt, died Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport, following a brief illness.

Charles Frank Goddard was born December 2, 1948, to William and Helen (Rowson) Goddard in Clinton, Iowa. He graduated from Central Community Schools and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University. After graduating, he taught industrial arts at Delwood High School, where he met his future wife, Kay Dengler. They were married August 10, 1974, at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt. The couple resided in rural DeWitt, where they raised four children. Chuck worked as assistant manager at DeWitt Home Center and later, administrator for the Clinton County Solid Waste Agency. He retired as administrator from Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency in 2014.

Chuck was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, the DeWitt Nite Lions, and served on the Clinton County Extension Council. He enjoyed “touring” Menards, traveling through 49 of the 50 U.S. States, antiquing and collecting lard cans, watching westerns, and was a season ticket holder for the Quad City Steamwheelers. Chuck especially enjoyed spending time with his 7 grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Kay; children, Kindra (Luke) Barys, DeWitt, Cacee (Jeremy Mabis) Hoyer, Evansville, Indiana, Chaya (Dustin) Feldman, Nashua, and Chazse Goddard, Des Moines; grandchildren, Kyptin, Zanyel, and Amirya Barys, Kadyn and Taryn Hoyer, and Natalie and Logan Feldman; siblings, Jean Passig, Bill (Kathy) Goddard, Ken (Marjorie) Goddard, and Randy (Cheri) Goddard; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Lulubelle (Dale) Campbell, Etta Mae (Leonard) Bergl, and Sylvia (Dick) Collins.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2021, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, the Rev. Eric Obermann officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
