James L. Holdt, 74, of Davenport passed away June 19, 2017 at West Wing Place Nursing Home, DeWitt, IA. A Celebration of Life party will be held at Fejervary Park, Shelter 2, in Davenport, Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Just like Jim’s personality, please attend in your most colorful clothing! Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

He was born December 9, 1942 in Davenport son of Louis and Mary Jane (Blempker) Holdt. He was united in marriage to Bert Allen on May 20, 1983 in Davenport. He and his wife owned and operated Holdt Graphic Repair Service from 1980 to 2009.

He was active with Boy Scouts of America. Memberships include Order of Arrow and Moose Club. James was a Past-Master of Coralville Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He played guitar and sang. His favorite song was “The Baby Tree,” which placed a piece of him in each of his children and grandchildren’s hearts.

Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 34 years, Bert, children: Tracy, Henry, Cessie, Corina and Carrie and their spouses; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Lynch and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Missy Ruiz and a brother, Nyle Holdt.
