Elaine Legorreta

October 19, 1950-December 9, 2020

On December 9th, 2020, Elaine Legorreta, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 70. Elaine is preceded by her mother and father, Ed and Edna (Laffey) Bormann, and her brothers Larry (Dorothy), Darrel and Hank (Lorraine) Bormann. She is survived by her husband Charles, her children, Phillip (Elizabeth), Julie (Thom) King and Michael (Jane) Legorreta; her three sisters, Darlene (Kenneth), Carol (Ronald) Lacey and Mary Kay, her two brothers, Ronald (Jean) and Richard (Susan) and her 31 nieces and nephews, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Elaine was born on October 19th, 1950 in Sugar Creek, Iowa to Ed and Edna Bormann, where she was raised with her eight brothers and sisters. She married Chuck Legorreta on November 19th, 1977 and raised their two sons, Michael and Phillip, and daughter Julie in Carol Stream, IL.

Elaine was a nurse at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital for over 30 years where she had so many cherished memories with her friends and colleagues. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Isidore Parish until they moved to Sun Lakes, AZ in 2009.

Elaine was an excellent cook and genuinely loved to be in the kitchen making feasts for her family and friends. She had a passion for reading and loved the sun, often combining the two whenever she had the chance. Elaine was very patient and loved to teach her children and grandchildren new things. Her smile lit up the room and her laugh was infectious. She has cared for so many and truly was an example of selfless love either at work as a Nurse or to her family and friends. Although Elaine never wanted to be the center of attention, she always had a special place in so many hearts that she touched. She will be deeply missed but those that knew her will continue to hold onto the memories to warm our hearts.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 15th, 2021 at the Church of St. Mary and Joseph in Sugar Creek, IA.
