CAHILL, HENNEBERRY, MAHONEY

Daniel J. Cahill, 59, of Denver, Colorado passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 14, 2021.
He was born in Clinton, Iowa on November 23, 1961, the son of the late Dr. James P. and M. Joan Henneberry Cahill. He was a graduate of Loras College (BA), Iowa State University (BS, Construction Engineering) and Northwestern University (MBA, Real Estate, Finance, International Business).
On September 5, 2008 at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois, Dan married Elizabeth Mahoney. The entire Cahill clan agreed Dan and Liz were the perfect match.
Dan worked for many years as a Sr. Project Manager at Pepper Construction in Chicago before starting his own consulting business, Cahill Project Management Services.
Dan was always physically active and had a real zest for life. He loved outdoor activities like biking, hiking, camping, and skiing. He was a skillful skier and snowboarder and enjoyed mogul runs and skiing through the narrow paths between the trees. Just two weeks ago, he enjoyed a skiing trip to Breckenridge, Colorado with Liz and his brother, Bill.
Dan also loved to travel and visited numerous countries during his journeys.
He also frequently grumbled about "Liz's dogs," but we all knew he loved those dogs as much as she did. Despite his grumbling, Dan was the softie who always snuck extra treats to the dogs and in the wintertime, tucked them in under blankets at night.
Dan will be remembered as a very intelligent, thoughtful, and funny guy. He was a gentle, giving soul whose sincerity, authenticity and loyalty earned him legions of friends. Dan was generous with his time and was always willing to help a friend or family member in need. When he lived in Chicago, some of his friends nicknamed him the "Mayor of Lincoln Park" because he invariably ran into friends wherever he was in that neighborhood.
Liz remembers Dan as her best friend and "the love of her life" and their short time together as filled with love, respect, laughs and fun. We are certain Dan felt the same about Liz because he always seemed happier when he was with Liz.
Dan will be missed by his beloved wife, Elizabeth, and their dog, Harvey; brothers and sister, Joseph of Chicago, IL; William of Ames, IA; Ellen (David) Pusateri of Fishers, IN; John (Soojin) of New York, NY; and Michael of Dubuque, IA; and nieces and nephews, Jacob (Maria), Anna, and Jessica Pusateri and Daehan Cahill.
A Funeral Mass for Daniel Cahill will be held at Holy Family Church, 4377 Utica St, Denver, CO 80212, on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM. A visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and a burial will follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 12801 W. 44th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
In lieu of flowers or donations, please take a cue from how Dan lived his life: reach out to a friend you have not spoken to in a long time, give someone the benefit of the doubt, lend a hand to someone in need and be present and enjoy life as much as you can.
