Obituary for Hazel Burmeister
Hazel M. Burmeister, 86, of Clinton, Iowa, joined her husband in Heaven on Saturday, May 4, 2013. She passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City from complications after surgery. Hazel’s cremains will be joined together with the cremains of the love of her life, Virgil “Bud” Burmeister who passed away December 29, 2010. They will be buried together at the Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
There will be a graveside service, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 1:00 PM, at the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. A lunch will be served at Gil’s directly after the service. Family and friends are all welcome. No memorials are necessary and the family requests no flowers. Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
Hazel was born December 1, 1926 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert and Lillian Judd Fuller. She married Virgil Gaylen Burmeister on December 1, 1943 in Clinton, Iowa.
Hazel was a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She could always be counted on to be there when needed. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her. She enjoyed going to the casino and babysitting her “grand dog” Wicket.
Survivors include her son, Terry (Beth) Burmeister of Clinton; daughter, Cherryl (Gabe) Wolter of Lake Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and sisters, Lillian Latimer and Dorothy Gravert both of Clinton.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Wesley, Herb, Robert, Clyde and Fred Fuller and a sister, Imogene Schnieder.
