John M. (Jack) Lorenz, formerly of Clinton, passed away December 21st, 2020 in Bullhead City, Arizona at the age of 92. He was born to John and Mervyn Lorenz. He attended Clinton public schools, graduating from CHS in 1946. He was a member of the band and orchestra for 4 years and a member of the National Championship Swimming team. He attended Coe College, graduating in 1950 with a Degree in Chemistry. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict and returned to Clinton after his discharge. He was employed at DuPont as a Chemist. He was active in Western Star Lodge #100 and served as Worshipful Master in 1964. He joined Zelzah Shrine, Las Vegas in 2005. He was active at St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served as Congregational President for eight years. He was elected to the Iowa Synod Board of the Lutheran Church in America serving eight years and on the Bishops Committee for the merger of the Lutheran Churches. After retirement from DuPont he moved to California and worked as Parish Coordinator at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Laguna Hills and was a Dispatcher for the Leisure World Security organization.
He met and married on a beach in Maui, Hawaii, his present wife, Carolyn. After her retirement, they moved to Bullhead City, Arizona and enjoyed many days of boating and fishing on the Colorado River plus spending a lot of time in Hawaii.
John is survived by his wife Carolyn S. Berry Lorenz. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, John H. Lorenz. Cremation Rites have been given and inurnment will be at a later date.
