James Henry Hendes, 88, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at MercyOne Medical Center, Clinton, on January 4, 2021. Honoring his wishes, cremations rites have been accorded with a Memorial service occurring at 11 am on Friday, January 8th, 2021 at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Dr.). Private family burial takes place at a later date at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arraignments.
James was born February 7, 1932 in Welton, Iowa the son of William and Viola (Otto) Hendes. He was a 1950 graduate of Calamus High School. James was united in marriage to Margarite Thompson on September 8, 1957 in Clinton.
James was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Engineering Battalion.
James worked at Clinton Corn Processing as an operator and supervisor for 21+ years. He was also a member of the Moose Club in Clinton.
James loved to be outdoors, especially camping and was a competitive in sport shooting. He also loved to work on cars.
James is survived by his grandson - Thomas Weideman of Clinton, Iowa, and special friends - Diane and Matt Thomas of Indianola, IA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, and daughter - Karin Wilkins.
