Donald A. Petersen, 83, of Clinton passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center - Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 pm, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Per his wishes he will be cremated after the services. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service time at the funeral home on Wednesday. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting his obituary at www.snellzornig.com. The family requests masks be worn during visitation and services.
Donald Alfred Petersen was born October 22, 1937 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Peter and Christina (Schaeffer) Petersen. He attended school in Albany, Illinois and then served in the United States Army. He married Phyllis Kooi on November 1, 1969 in Sterling, Illinois. He worked for Waukesha Motors in South Clinton for many years and then worked for PFC for 20 years when he retired.
Don enjoyed camping, gardening and Hawkeye Football. He was an active member at the Clinton Moose Lodge 363 earning his lifetime membership after 50 years. He was a talented woodworker who refinished many beautiful pieces of furniture but mostly Don enjoyed time spent with his family.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Phyllis of Clinton; two step-children: Tim Hensel of Clinton and Cathy (Larry) Melvin of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one sister Jane Moens of Geneseo, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the family.
