Kenneth Howard Nelson, 88, of Neosho, Missouri (formerly of Clinton) passed away peacefully at Freeman Hospital - Joplin, Missouri on Monday, December 21, 2020. A private funeral service and burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. A public memorial service will be held in 2021 when family and friends can safely gather. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Kenneth was born February 20, 1932 in Waterville, Iowa, the son of Otto C. and Martha E. (Asleson) Nelson. He married Neirma Meggers on July 6, 1958; they later divorced. In the early 1980s, he met his life partner, Leola Huber, with whom he loved and shared life experiences until her passing on October 16, 2018.
Kenneth was proud of his time served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Clinton Corn Processing for 19 years followed by many years at Sanitol Services. He loved being outdoors whether it was fishing, tending to his garden or just going for a walk. He loved his pets Daisy, Toby, Buster and Lucy. He also enjoyed watching and reading his Westerns; and spending time with his family and friends. Above all, he loved his entire family very much and will be greatly missed.
Kenneth is survived by his three children - Brenda (Gary) Rockrohr of Neosho, MO, Glenn (Irene) Nelson of Thousand, Oaks, CA and Kevin (Janet) Nelson of Clinton; five grandchildren - Gary Jr. (David), Anthony (Pattie), Tyler, Brianna and Danica; two great-grandchildren - Anthony and Megan; Step-daughters : Carol (Scott) Robinson of Muscatine, IA, Susan (Gerry) de Gala of Plainfield, IL and Brenda (Tom) Smith of Washington, IL; Step-grandchildren Mitchell Robinson, Jared Nielsen, Taylor Nielsen, Chad Robinson, Alexander de Gala, Adam de Gala, Andrew de Gala, Emma Smith; one brother Howard (Irene) Nelson of Camanche, IA and one sister - Olive Marohn of La Crosse, WI; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his life partner - Leola Huber; two brothers - Orville and Arthur of and four sisters -Alvina, Marjorie, Norma and Marcella.
