Obituary
Inge Schnack, 80, of Grand Mound, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Westwing Place in DeWitt.Inge Helene Christine Rehm was born February 12, 1940, in Stettin, Germany, to Hermann and Gertrud (Woitha) Rehm. In 1950, at age ten, she immigrated with her family to the United States. After graduating from Clinton High School, Inge served in US Navy. Following her honorable discharge, she held jobs as a sewing instructor, car-hop, and bindery worker. She married Bernhard J. "Benny" Schnack on April 16, 1966, in Clinton, Iowa. The couple farmed in rural Grand Mound until retirement in 1993. Benny preceded her in death February 25, 2013.
Inge was a wonderful cook and contributed to several local cookbooks. She loved gardening, dancing, flowers, and cats. She was a private person, but very fun loving. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, and help take care of them.
Surviving are children, Kim (Edwin) Stevens and David (Becky) Schnack of Grand Mound, Steven Schnack of New Jersey, and Lisa (Stephen) Briggs of Maquoketa, Iowa; grandchildren, Lara (Nickolas) DeFrieze, Amy Schnack, Chelsey Schnack, Katie Schnack, Rachel Schnack and Allison Schnack; great-grandchildren, Fleur and Madeline DeFrieze; a sister, Gisela (Don) Regenwether of Spragueville; other relatives and friends; and her dog, Lexi.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
A private family service will be held at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound. Burial following at Evergreen Cemetery. The service will be live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/schultzfuneralhomes/live at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2020.
