John F Zaehringer, 63, formerly of Clinton, died Sunday, Dec. 20, in Charleston, SC. He had been battling cancer and then died of COVID. J. Henry Stuhr Funeral home, Charleston, SC is in charge of arrangements.
John was born May 18, 1957, the son of Carol (Poffenberger) and William Zaehringer. He grew up in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1975. He married Karen Kehn of Bettendorf. John was in the US Coast Guard for 20 years and then became an animal control officer in Tennessee. John is survived by daughter Samantha (Jason) Burnette of Charleston, SC, his mother, Carol of Clinton, and his sister, Sharon (Dan) Boyd, of Clinton, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Karen on Dec. 23, 2011, and by his father in March, 1987.
