Carol Ann Kennedy Carlson, age 77 of Clinton, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 at the Alverno. As per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded. No services are being planned for at this time. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Carol was born in Clinton on November 2, 1942, the daughter of Marvin and Margaret (Holdgrafer) Kennedy. She attended St. Irenaeus Grade School and graduated from Mt. St. Clare Academy. She received her X-Ray Technician Certificate at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City and later received her Dental Assistant training from Scott Community College. Carol married Kenneth Carlson on October 18, 1975 in Clinton. She had been employed for several years with Northwestern Bell and had been the Dental Assistant with her husband, Dr. Kenneth Carlson for many years. Carol was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and Clinton Trees Forever. Carol lived for her family. She enjoyed gardening and her participation in Clinton Trees Forever. She was the 1st person Iowa Trees Forever named as their Outstanding Volunteer. Mt. St. Clare Academy also named her Outstanding Alumni several years ago.
Carol is survived by her husband, Dr. Kenneth Carlson of Clinton; a son, William (Terry) Waller of Las Vegas; 2 step children, Kirsten (Paul) Todd of Denver and Kenneth Paul Carlson; 5 grandchildren; 2 brothers, James Kennedy of Solon, Iowa and Duane (Lois) Kennedy of Moscow, TX and niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Edward and Bill Kennedy and a sister, Joan Shanahan. Memorials in Carol's name may be made to Clinton Trees Forever.
