Dale L. VonThun age 85 of Goose Lake, IA, passed away Monday Oct. 5, 2020 at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Monday Oct. 12th at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, where the Clinton AMVETS will conduct military honors. The family requests those attending to wear a face mask. Burial will be at Rossiter Cemetery in Charlotte. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Dale was born on Oct. 10, 1934 on the family farm near Goose Lake, IA, the son of August and Elsie (Jahn) VonThun Sr. He served in the US Marine Corp. from 1952-1955 during the Korean Conflict. He married Mariechen Hildebrandt on July 9, 1959 in Charlotte, IA. He farmed on the family farm most of his life. He enjoyed driving trucks. Dale was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charlotte.

Dale is survived by his wife, Mariechen VonThun of Goose Lake; five brothers, August (Joyce) VonThun Jr. of Fulton, IL, Erich VonThun of Moline, IL, Roland VonThun of Camanche, Stanley (Nancy) VonThun of Camanche, and Phillip VonThun of Moline, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother– Irving, and a sister-in-law.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Monday Oct. 12th at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be at Rossiter Cemetery in Charlotte. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
