Lois 'Jean' LePrevost, 79 of Clinton passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.
Funeral Services will be 9:00 am, Friday September 25, 2020 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home - Clinton. Private burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery on Friday. Jean was born as Lois Jean Trout on April 4, 1941 in Hot Springs, AR, the daughter of George Odell Trout and Mary Elizabeth Hawthorn. Jean was a graduate of Clinton High School following which she attended Mount Saint College in Clinton. While in school she met Frederic 'Larry' Hilaire LePrevost Jr. and the two were married on November 4, 1959 in Clinton.
Jean worked as a Secretary for the Clinton Community School District beginning in 1975 at Longfellow Elementary and then in 1983 she worked at Elijah Buell Elementary where she retired in 2004. In 1989, Jean was awarded the Stan Reeves Gold Key Award for exemplary service and loving attention to students.
Jean is survived by her husband of 60 plus years: Larry of Clinton; son, Larry Wayne (Cheryl) of Camanche; daughter, Rebecca Mathis (Kim) of North Liberty; son, David (Sandy) of Davenport; son, Jeff (Jolene) of Meeker, OK; and son, Chris (Riki) of Fulton, IL. Jean is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 2, great-great grandchildren, as well as her sisters, Caroline Jones, Linda (Thomas) Swilley, Mary Jane Wells, Gayle (Tim) Schroeder. She was preceded in death by her father(s), George Odell Trout who was killed in WWII and Myron Kelly; her mother, Mary Elizabeth Kelly; her sisters, Julia Ann Kelly, Arceille Lewis; her father-in-law, FH 'Leap' LePrevost Sr; and her mother-in-law, Emma LaRue LePrevost.
