Obituary for Betty Henry
Betty Lorraine Henry, 94, of Savanna, Illinois and formerly of Clinton, passed away at Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. Graveside services will be held at 10:30AM Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at snellzornig.com.Betty was born May 21, 1926 in Richland Township, Guthrie County, Iowa, the daughter of Sanford and Flora (Fackler) Hume. She was a 1944 graduate of Jamaica Consolidated High School, Jamaica, Iowa. Betty married Joseph (Jack) Henry May 25, 1946 in Clinton, Iowa; he died March 21, 2010.
She had been employed Nielsen Clearing House and Iowa Unemployment Office. She had been a volunteer and counselor for many years at the Crisis Pregnancy Center. She was also very active in service, in early years at the First Church of God and at Journey Church (Evangelical Free Church) for many, many years.
She and her husband, Jack were well known faces at Clinton Riverboat Days through the many years of annual festivities. Her family was so blessed by her love. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She gathered so many friends throughout her life’s journey. For all those who knew and loved her, Betty’s passing has filled many eyes with tears and so many hearts with sorrow. Her faith has been an inspiration to the many lives she touched along that path of life. She has now found peace in reaching the Heavenly land and comfort in the outstretched arms of her loving Savior. In the precious promise of her eternal life our tears are wiped away. She has now joined her beloved husband Jack as well as so many family and friends who have gone before.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Anna Sexton and her fiancé, Sheridan Petersen; two grandchildren, Tracy Sexton of Springfield, OR and Tim (Anna) Sexton of Altoona WI; two great-grandchildren, Shane (Filina) Nier of Jersey City, NJ and Natalia Sexton, Altoona, WI; her sister, Carol Mowrer of Perry, IA and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her sister Doris Rainer and her brother, Roy Hume.
