George E. Struve, age 91 of Clinton, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Eagle point Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, September 3rd at St. John Lutheran Church, Clinton. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service time Thursday at the church. Masks are welcomed but not required. Burial will be in Andover Cemetery. Pall Bearers will be Clayton Struve, Brian Lafollette, Colin Jones, Tim and Matt Struve, Emma Kirk, Jolene Jordan and Keaton Struve. Honorary pall bearer is Danielle Lafollette. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
George was born in rural Clinton November 22, 1928, the son of Arnold and Viola C. (Eggers) Struve. He graduated from Miles High School in 1947. George married Dolores Mae Boysen on June 25, 1950 in Clinton. Dolores passed away on April 12, 2014. George farmed his entire life in rural Clinton. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and its Fellowship Club, the Clinton County Farm Bureau and was an Elk River Township Trustee. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and woodworking.
George is survived by a daughter, Dianne (Dell) Lawrence of Marion, IA; 3 sons, Paul (Margret) Struve of Clinton, Ronald (Victoria) Struve of Oskaloosa and Perry (Patricia) Struve of rural Clinton; 16 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Albert Boysen of Tampa, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother, Eldon. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
