Joseph E. Rixen, age 59 of Clinton, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospitals. In following Joe's wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in Smith Cemetery.
Joe was born in Clinton on February 21, 1961, the son of Frank and Gayla (Spooner) Rixen. He attended Clinton Schools. Joe owned and operated Rixen painting for 32 years. He married Nicci Dolph on September 2, 2018 in Clinton. Joe was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He enjoyed hunting, Sunday drives and spending time with his family, friends and his cats.
Joe is survived by his wife, Nicci; his son, Joe (Amanda) Rixen, Jr. of Cedar Rapids; a step-son, Steven (Stefanie) Shepherd of Preston; his granddaughter, Avery; 2 brothers, Chris (Christy) Rixen of Clinton and Dave Rixen of Andover and nieces and nephews, Billy, Zach, Maddy and Piper. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Kim and his niece, Angie. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
