FATAL ACCIDENT -- Wednesday of last week, the thirteen year old son of Mr. Peter Petersen, of Elk River township, stumbled and fell on to an open knife which he held in his hand. The blade struck him in the side and severed an artery, and before medical aid could be summoned he died from his injury. Coroner Lukens was notified, but thought it unnecessary to hold an inquest.

The thirteen year old son of Peter Petersen, a farmer living on the county line in Elk River township Clinton county, was accidentally killed last Wednesday evening by falling upon the point of an open knife which he had in hand. The blade pierced the boys neck and he died very soon after. This Mr Petersen also lost a daughter in the early spring with that often fatal disease spotted fever. The daughter was a bright young lady of nine and the father had just purchased an organ expressly for her the day before she was taken ill. In the midst of life and its pleasures and anticipations we are only one short step from death. And how often that old saying repeats.
