Jean Marie Griffin age 77 of Marshalltown, formerly of Clinton, passed away Sunday July 5, 2020 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton. Visitation will be held 9:30 AM Thursday at the church. Following the funeral mass, cremation rites will be accorded and burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Jean was born on March 29, 1943 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Warren and Mary (Donahue) Kaffenberger. She graduated from St. Mary's High School, Clinton and the Loyola University Chicago. She served in the US Air Force. She married Donald Griffin on Dec. 23, 1971 in Clinton; he died in 1995. She later married Richard McLaughlin on Jan. 31, 1997 in Clinton; he died in 2007. Jean worked as a computer programmer, consultant, and accountant from her home in Clinton for many years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton, IL.
Jean is survived by her adopted daughter, Kathleen McGowan of Baltimore, MD; four brothers, William (Linda) Kaffenberger of Mesa, AZ, John (Debbie) Kaffenberger of Chesapeake, VA, Rev. Dan (Mary Ann) Kaffenberger of Harrison, AR, and Chris (Dawn) Kaffenberger of Clinton, IA; her sister, Ann (Gary) Howell of Council Bluffs, IA; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and both of her husbands.
