Thomas Clark "TC" Sampson II, 77, of Clinton, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 6, 2020. Cremation rites have been accorded with Funeral services taking place at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, July 22, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation occurs 1-1/2 hours prior from 11 am until the service time at the funeral home. Burial immediately follows at the National Cemetery in Rock Island.
Thomas was born July 27, 1942 in Parkin, Arkansas, the son of Thomas Clark Sampson I and Rosialee (Bell) Sampson. The family moved to Clinton, Iowa where he attended Clinton Community Schools, graduating from Clinton High School. While in school, he developed a love for swimming and became an avid swimmer.
Thomas Clark served in the United States Army, seeing combat during the Viet Nam War. He was released from military service on a hardship discharge after the death of his father. He returned home securing employment at DuPont Company and remained in their employment until he retired.
Thomas enjoyed socializing with family and friends. He also loved to hunt and fish. Thomas was a passionate and skilled golfer, a longtime member of the Valley Oaks Country Club. He participated and won many golf tournaments. Thomas also loved playing league softball.
Left to treasure his memory are - daughter - Shelley De Ann Sampson-Clemons of Knoxville, TN; son - Thomas Sampson III of Las Vegas, NV; brother - Thomas Gene Sampson of Seattle, WA; sister - Darlene Sampson of Bettendorf, IA; three grandchildren - Cassandra Ann Sampson or CA, Jalynn Isaiah Clemons of TN, and Jayden Josiah Lynn Clemons of TN, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents - Thomas and Rosialee and one brother - Henry Lee.
