Clinton Advertiser, June 3, 1920
Funeral services for the late Charles Swigart, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Swigart, of 236 Grand avenue, were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the home with Rev. Colver and Rev. Shanks conducting the services. Interment was made in Springdale cemetery.
Members of all troops of Clinton council Boy Scouts of America attended the funeral in a body having been excused from school to attend the final services. At 2 o'clock all school work was laid aside for five minutes as a tribute to the deceased school student and Boy Scout who met his death by drowning on Monday afternoon in the slough at the foot of Harrison street. During the period when school work ceased the teachers in the various schools warned the pupils against the dangers of the river, which was responsible for the death of this Clinton youth.
