MRS. J. PEHRS DIES SUDDENLY LAST NIGHT
Has Been Resident of Clinton County Over Half Century
Mrs. Jacob Pehrs, a resident of Clinton county for over 60 years, died suddenly last night about 8 o'clock at her home four miles north of Lyons. Mrs. Pehrs had not been in ill health, and her unexpected demise has caused much sorrow among her many friends in and about the city.
Augusta Wilke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Wilke, deceased, was born in Germany May 25, 1855. When a child she came to America with her parents, who located on a farm near Bryant.
She was married in Lyons November 24, 1876, to Jacob Pehrs, who survives with six children:
O. J. Pehrs and Mrs. Fred Luckritz of Lyons, Martin, Pauline, Laura, and Dorothea Pehrs at home.
Mr. and Mrs. Pehrs celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year at their farm home, where they have resided since their marriage in 1876.
News of the sudden death of Mrs. Pehrs last night was received here in sorrow. During her many years as a resident of the county she has made many friends, her quiet unassuming manner endearing her to all. Mrs. Pehrs was a lover of home, devoted to the best interests of her family, a kindly neighbor and a sympathetic friend.
The funeral will be held Monday afternoon. Services will be held at the home near Lyons at 1 o'clock, Rev. Carl Hesse of St. John's Lutheran church officiating. At 2 o'clock a service will be read at the church. Interment will follow in Oakland cemetery.
