Joan Marie Empson age 89 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday June 30, 2020 at MercyOne North, Clinton. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no public gathering held due to the current circumstances related to the pandemic. A Memorial Mass will be held 9:00 AM Saturday Aug. 1st at Prince of Peace Parish, Clinton. Joan was born on June 17, 1931 in Hastings, NE, the daughter of Louis and Lois (Pringle) Hohlfeld. She married Gene Empson in 1953; he died in Feb. 2018. Joan was a Registered Nurse at the former Jane Lamb Hospital, Clinton for many years. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish.

Joan is survived by her three sons, Marc Empson of Ames, IA, John Empson of Eagan, MN, and David Empson of San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren, Alexis, David Allan, and Amelia; and two great grandchildren, Brynn and Gemma. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister.
