David D. “Dave” Otten, 61, of Delmar, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at his home surrounded by family.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation will follow the visitation and burial will be at a later date.

David Dale Otten was born on June 7, 1959 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Larry and Bonnie Lee (Mackey) Otten. He grew up in the Monmouth area and served his country in the U.S. Navy earning an honorable discharge.

“Dave” loved working with tools and was a mechanic for 34 years at various places in Eastern Iowa. He then became a repairman for Illowa Gaming Systems and was in charge of maintaining gaming systems at bars and restaurants.

“Dave” enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, fixing things, and spending time with his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, James (Sara) Hidalgo of Apple Valley, CA, Casandra (Tyree) Turman of Delmar, IA, and Zachary (and significant other Erica Norton) Otten of Delmar, IA; step-daughter, Misty Ehlers of Maquoketa, IA; 19 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; brother, Dan Otten of Cottage Grove, WI; and sisters, Kathy Otten of Monroe, NC, Kelly Carr of Sabula, IA, and Lynette (Tom) Rogers of Stone City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Cindy Pachtinger.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a David D. “Dave” Otten memorial fund has been established.
