Alice C. Dever, age 101 passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Eagle Point Nursing Center. Private burial services will be held on June 19th at St. Irenaeus Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Alice was born on September 29, 1918 to Patrick E. and Margaret (Jepsen) Hannafan in Lyons, Iowa. She attended school in Lyons and graduated from Our Lady of Angels Academy in 1936. Alice married Fred M. (Diddy) Kohl on November 18, 1938. He passed away on December 16, 1961. She later married John R. Dever on December 27, 1962. He passed away on December 7, 2008. Diddy and Alice adopted Sandra Kohl in July of 1954. She passed away May 17, 2017.
Alice loved playing cards and volunteering with seniors at the Ericksen Center. She did ceramics, loved knitting, needlework, and plastic yarn crafts. Alice also bowled and enjoyed reading and word puzzles. She lived in Florida for several years but missed Iowa, family and friends, so she moved back home. She volunteered at St. Peter's Church in Sabula and St. Mary's in Bryant.
Alice is survived by her brother Richard Hannafan of Syracuse, NY and also leaves many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; daughter Sandra; siblings Helen Dose, Lucille Flug, LeRoy Hannafan, Robert Hannafan, and Alan J. (Coach) Hannafan; and step sister Maryethel Stewart.
