George Eugene Darling, age 93 of rural Clinton entered Eternal Life in the arms of his Heavenly Father and supported by the love of his family and friends due to sepsis-induced psychosis on Friday April 24, 2020 at MercyOne North in Clinton. Private family graveside services will be Thursday April 30th at the Andover Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
George was born on July 5, 1926 to Earl and Florence (Hansen) Darling. He married Mildred Wilke on August 19, 1951 in Clinton. He farmed a century farm (Lone Oak Farm) for over 50 years. He was a life-long member of Faith Lutheran Church serving on several committees over the years. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
George is survived by his daughter Debra Smith of Neshkoro, WI, a son, Richard (Laurie) Darling of Clinton, a daughter Kathleen (George) Walker of Clinton; 3 grand-children, Adrienne (John) of Portage, WI, Alex of Appleton, WI, Emily (Trace) Carstensen of Cedar Rapids, IA, 3 step-grandchildren, Branden, Brent and Breanna. George was preceded in death by his parents and many relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, and is now joyfully reunited with her in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
Thank you to Pastor Eric for his prayers, to the EMT's, to all our many friends and family who stepped up with their support, and to the critical care nurses at Mercy Medical, where you all helped us navigate his final path with your patience and compassion.
