Donald G. McDermott age 78 of Clinton, passed away Monday May 25, 2020 at MercyOne Medical Center, Clinton. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.

Donald was born on July 18, 1941 in Clinton, the son of John and Janet (Bronakant) McDermott. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Clinton. He was a veteran in the US Air Force. He married the love of his life Patricia Meighan on Dec. 17, 1977 in Clinton, she died in 2016. Donald worked at E.I. DuPont as a Clysar Operator for 34 years, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball, fishing, particularly ice fishing, boating, and playing with his grandchildren, especially his little buddy, Laken.

Donald is survived by his six children, Christine (Denny) Wierema of Clinton, David (Darlene) Liles of Preston, Michelle (Willie) King of Clinton, Patricia (Shawn) Boisen of Clinton, Shannon (Robert) Nielsen of Clinton, and Kelly McDermott (Joe Tischer) of Clinton; 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and a brother, James (Josie) McDermott.
