Charlene R. “Char” Howard, age 66 of Camanche, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 at Mercy One. Private family services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Char was born in Clinton on July 9, 1953, the daughter of Gerald Lewis and JoAnn (Darr) Cheramy. She attended Clinton Schools. Char always had a love for animals through life. Her love for them grew to her becoming a self employed dog groomer and breeder. Her passion did not stop at everyday household pets, but also grew to exotic pets. In Chars free time she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Char enjoyed. Char enjoyed taking trips and making everlasting memories with her family. Through her adult life, Char was an antique enthusiast. Char also was an avid gardener, who took pride in the way her yard and home looked.

Char is survived by 4 sons, Eric (Stacy) Strackbein of Fulton, Shawn Howard of Fulton and James Howard of Missouri and Shane Howard of Nebraska; 4 grandchildren, Allie, Delaney, Layna and Justin; her mother, JoAnn (Gerald) Kinkaid of Clinton; 2 sisters, Lynn (Tom) Verfaillie of Circleville, OH and Patricia (Mike) Byrns of Clinton; 3 brothers, Gerald Cheramy, Brian Cheramy and George (Cathi) Cheramy all of Clinton; her significant other, Mike Corson with whom she made her home and several nieces and nephews.
