Richard J. “Hermie” Herrmann, age 75 of Clinton, passed away Monday, May 18, 2020 at Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. In following Richard’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no visitation or services at this time. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials in Richard’s name may be given to Pancreatic Cancer Research.

Richard was born in Rochelle, IL on September 16, 1944, the son of John and Arlene (Sweger) Herrmann. He graduated from Rochelle Township High School. Richard married Valerie McCoy on Dec. 28, 1962 in Rochelle. They had two sons. He later married Sharon Howard in Clinton in 1980. Sharon passed away in 1997. He then married Susan Wynkoop Hickey on August 8, 2008 in Clinton. Hermie was employed with Mediacom from December 5, 1979 to March 8, 2013, when he retired. He enjoyed traveling, playing pool and darts, going on drives, a beer in a neighborhood bar and watching Westerns on Grit TV.

Hermie is survived is survived by his wife Susan; two sons, David (Eileen) Herrmann of Clinton and Doug (Janelle) Herrmann of Moline, IL; 3 step-sons, Jim Hickey (Nadine) of Clinton, Joe Hickey of Sioux City, Iowa and Kevin Pinkston of Clinton, 2 step-daughters, Beth Howard (Dennis) Determan and Erica Frederick both of Clinton; 19 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Kathy (Paul Lieving and Andrea (John) Fletcher both of Rochelle and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Herrmann of Rochelle. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sharon; 3 step-sons, Tim, Jeff and Bobby Howard and a brother, Dwayne. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
