Seth Thayer, a Clinton county pioneer, died Wednesday at his son's farm home south of Maquoketa, as a result of the paralytic stroke received Monday. Mr. Thayer was born in Freedom, N.Y., Feb. 20th, 1837. His parents settled near DeWitt when Seth was a wee boy and he grew to manhood there. In 1862 he married Delila Tubbs at DeWitt, and they lived on the farm where Mr. Thayer died. Mrs. Thayer died 41 years ago, but his daughter Marilla and son Sylvester never married, and they all continued to live together. There is another child, Mrs. Henry Schumacker, of Delmar. The funeral was held at 1:30 yesterday at Union church. Rev. McCullough of Delmar officiated. Interment in Union cemetery.
