Grand Mound, Ia., April 27--The funeral of the late Richard Harrington who met his untimely death in the Wapsie last Thursday, was held from his late home Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Services were conducted by Rev. J. Q. Robinson, M. E. pastor at Reinbeck. Interment took place at Elmwood cemetery at DeWitt and was well attended by old neighbors and sorrowing relatives. The decedent was born Nov. 23, 1848, on the old homestead south of town, and was in his 67th year, having lived his entire life here, and had by his good habits and industry accumulated several hundred acres of fertile land and was one of the pioneer settlers of this township. His father came here in 1837 when the county was one vast prairie. The deceased was a good, kind husband and father and had many friends. Surviving him are his wife, son Lowell, one daughters, Malinda, one brother and six sisters who live in this locality, Levi, Mrs. Ed Miller, Mrs. J. Brown, Mrs. Jno A. Smith, Mrs. James Harrington, Mrs. Wm. Jamison living on the home farm and Mrs. Lester Walrod, living southeast of DeWitt. Friends extend their sympathy for the bereaved ones. The pallbearers were his six nephews, J. O. Miller, Mark Harrington, Richard Smith, Ray Smith, Lawrence Smith, all living here, and Howard Harrington of Chicago. The funeral director was John W. Kelly.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Duke of Battle Creek, Ia., Mrs. Mack and daughter of Fort Dodge, D. F. Bailey of Elwood and Howard Harrington of Chicago.
