The funeral of the late Mrs. L. C. Arey was held this afternoon at the Methodist church at 2:30 o'clock, the services being conducted by Rev. J. J. Kidder and music furnished by Mesdames Florence Mitchell and Dora Saltmarsh and Miss Pauline Cox. Friends of the family who acted as pall bearers were Claus Greve, Hans Meggers, Edward Cousins, Frank Carber, Lester Walrod and Morgan Orndorff. Interment was made in Elmwood cemetery. Winna C. Arey was born in Clinton county, Iowa, February 6, 1881, died at her home east of DeWitt April 26, 1915, aged 34 years, two months and 20 days. November 16, 1898 she was united in marriage with Luther Arey. This union was blessed with seven children, Geneva, who died when seven months old, Hazel, Sadie, Robert, Clarence, Clover and Virginia. All her life was spent in Clinton county, except three years lived in Tama county, Iowa. She has been a faithful wife and shared with her husband the toils and cares of the farm, and rejoiced with him as success attended their efforts. She was a loving, self-sacrificing mother and had reasons to rejoice over the children that made home happy. With the many cares of a family, she was unable to visit much but was interested in the neighborhood and was a good neighbor. Some three months ago she had an operation. It was successful and she felt better than she had for years. Only last Saturday she was in DeWitt feeling fine, felt poorly Saturday evening, was taken very sick Sunday night and died Monday night at 9 o'clock. She leaves a husband, six children, mother and many friends and neighbors to mourn her untimely death.
