G. W. Preston, veteran engineer and engine inspector for the Northwestern died suddenly of heart trouble Sunday at 10:30 p.m. at his home, 542 Eleventh avenue. He had started to retire for the evening and complained of feeling poorly. He became rapidly worse and died in a few minutes.

Mr. Preston was born in Dubuque, Jan. 25, 1859. He lived for a time in Monmouth and thirty-five years ago moved to Clinton where he has resided since. He is survived by his wife and two step sons, George and John Schroeder, who live at home. He was well known in Clinton, particularly in railroad circles. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. from the residence. Rev. C. L. Nye will officiate. Interment will be in Springdale cemetery.

Funeral services for George W. Preston were held yesterday at 2:30 p.m. at the residence, 542 Eleventh avenue. Rev. C. L. Nye officiated. The pall bearers were D. J. Cook, J. K. Hershire, Tom Paulson, J. Seefer, Tom Gallagher, W. Hullinger, N. E. Sargent and B. Shiltman.

Out of town relatives and friends present were: Mr. and Mrs. Will Preston of Monmouth, Ia.; Mrs. Anna Granson and Charles and John Granson, Boone, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Dippo, Frank and Edward Dippo, Boone, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. George Sharping and Mrs. William Caffle of Boone, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sharping, Florence and Pearl Sharping and Mrs. Pauline Kirky of Chicago.
